![]() Scavello said commercial businesses affected by a sales tax on admission tickets would benefit from the elimination of commercial school property taxes. This sales tax would cover the gamut of admissions to commercial sports events, recreation facilities like ski lifts, theme parks, movie theaters and entertainment venues as well as local attractions like Pocono Raceway. The state would collect an across-the-board four percent sales tax on admissions tickets or charges with revenues going to a property tax elimination fund. The amusement tax can only be levied by municipalities or school districts or both provided they share revenues. The Act 511 taxes which are reserved for local governments include the amusement tax as well as occupation and mercantile taxes.
